Primary Leadership, Coaching and Volunteering

Play Leader/Maker Awards, Change4Life Champions Training and Bronze Young Ambassador Programme

Play Leader Awards and Sports Leaders UK Playmaker Award* - Sport Impact can deliver or support your staff in the delivery of leadership programmes for learners aged 9 years+ (years 5 and 6).

The awards can be delivered as part of a normal school curriculum programme or as a dedicated leadership session/afterschool club.

Benefits to your school

  • Introduce pupils to a range of leadership skills, where they will learn about communication, organisation, teamwork and how to become good role models to younger students
  • Develop the skills, confidence and self-esteem of young leaders
  • Teach suitable new games and activities which will enable young leaders to lead small groups of younger students at break or lunchtimes in the playground under supervision
  • Support students to create a student leadership group who can contribute to increasing levels of physical activity within the school community

Bronze Young Ambassador Programme - A development opportunity aimed at exceptionally committed Key Stage 2 (years 5 and 6) leaders or students who have proved to be excellent volunteers in a school sport environment.  Bronze Young Ambassadors work in their school, supporting the development and promotion of PE and school sport.  The programme offers an opportunity for students to further develop skills to lead their peers, to be a role model in the school and to influence and inspire other young people.

Benefits to your school

Sport Ambassadors are a valued volunteer workforce, with training and support, Bronze Young Ambassadors could: 

  • Set up a School Sport Organising Crew
  • Create a PE and school sport noticeboard
  • Set up a new sports club
  • Run or assist with a school sport competition
  • Make a presentation on sporting opportunities in school

Sport Impact support

  • Training for Bronze Young Ambassadors is delivered annually for Hounslow schools.  Training will support Young Ambassadors to set up a School Sport Organising Crew. Pupils will learn how to introduce and set up a new sports club in their school and how to run or assist a school sports competition
  • Support with School Sport Organising Crew (school noticeboards, media, events, projects, assemblies).
