Hounslow Schools enjoy a taste of Hockey
On Tuesday 16th March Indian GymKhana Hockey Club hosted a Quicksticks Hockey Festival for Primary Schools in Hounslow. The festival featured 16 teams from 9 Primary Schools from around the borough (with some schools entering 2 teams for the event). All participants received 2 hours of Hockey coaching, covering a variety of key hockey skills delivered by Isleworth & Syon Young Leaders and 1st Year P.E teacher students at St.Mary's University.
In the afternoon, with the assistance of Level 2 P.E teacher students from St Marys University, the teams divided into four groups of four and played a round robin tournament. Each team played three 20 minute matches. The results are as follows:

Winners - Green Dragon,
Runners Up - Wellington (2)
Pool 2
Winners - Wellington (1)
Runners Up - Chatsworth (1)
Pool 3
Winners - Beavers (2)
Runners Up - Our Lady (1)
Pool 4
Winners - Joint First Place Beavers (1) and St.Marys (1)
With no overall winners, each player received a certificate of participation. “With many of the children altogether new to the game, we wanted to keep the emphasis on taking part rather than winning” Jenny Wile (Isleworth & Syon SSCo, Indian Gymkhana Hockey)
The event was organised jointly by the Isleworth and Syon School Sport Partnership and Indian Gymkhana’s Youth Development Section with help from Access Sport Charlity.
Huge congratulations to all the teams that participated on such a successful day.
