Leadership Academy
By Mr Killick & Mr Mawn
In February the ‘Isleworth & Syon’ inaugural leadership academy was launched.
The academy takes place on Tuesday’s after-school for 10 weeks with each session lasting 2 hours. In the first hour, Isleworth & Syon Sport Leaders are taught leadership Skills and in the second hour the Sport leaders have the opportunity to practice their skills with Gifted & Talented Yr 3 & 4 students from local Primary schools as part of the Isleworth & Syon SSP Community Multi-skills Club.
Twenty Sport Leaders from Year 7 – 12 were selected to join the academy on basis of their commitment to leadership and volunteering in both P.E lessons and extra-curricular. Each member received a personalised Sweatshirt and Polo Shirt. After graduating from the academy each member will have the necessary skills to assist at cluster and borough events and primary school after-school clubs. In addition the most promising graduates will have an opportunity to progress to both the Isleworth & Syon SSP and Hounslow ‘Sport Impact’ leadership Academies.
