Hounslow’s Mini Marathon Trials 2010 – A Family Affair!
On Saturday 6th February, Lampton Sports Centre hosted the trials to select this year’s team to represent Hounslow in the Virgin Mini London Marathon. From almost a hundred entries from boys and girls, aged 11 to 17years, the trials decided who were the top 48 young runners that will be going to London to run the last 5km of the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April.
Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Paul Lynch started the races and presented medals to all finishers and awarded a very special prize to all race winners, who received their very own pin badge depicting the crest of Hounslow.
Hopefully we have discovered some new young talent and potential 2012 medal winners and are looking forward to an exciting final race in April. Hounslow’s trials proved to be a family affair, with no less than seven pairs of siblings successfully qualifying. (highlighted below) A special mention should also go to Noel Stoddart, coach at St Mary’s Richmond AC, who coaches the winners of three of the six races. (Bradley Goater, Jivendra Singh and Rebecca Killip).
