More than 500 Yr 5 and 6 primary school pupils from the borough of Hounslow came together at the Fountain, Brentford Leisure Centre on Thursday 21st January 2010.
The day, which began at 10am and drew to a close at 2pm, saw pupils from 48 schools compete in an array of athletic races which included skills from other sports such as basketball, hockey and rugby. A mass aerobics session was held shortly before lunch in which all teachers, pupils, SSCo's and staff were involved in working out in style to Michael Jacksons Thriller record.
Organiser Pete Lammas (PE and Sport advisor for Hounslow Council) said "It was an excellent day of fun, excitement, determination and exemplary sporting behaviour."
Awards to celebrate the success of the event were delivered by Councillor Robert Oulds, lead member for Children’s services and education at the Council said ”I think it's very important that competitive sports are promoted in the borough and children are taught about fair play as well as health."
The winners of the day were Strand Juniors, congratulations to them as well as Chatsworth School who won the fair play award for their support, encouragement and overall excellent behaviour on the day.
