On Monday 28th May in glorious sunshine, ‘Sport Impact’ (Isleworth & Syon School Sport Partnership) organised their annual Year 5 & 6 Girls six-a-side football competition held at Goals, Gillette Corner. Seventy girls from seven Primary schools within Hounslow took part. Initially teams were divided into two pools, playing in a round robin format. In exciting matches there were high levels of skill and endeavour on display. Belmont, St. Mary’s Isleworth ‘A’, Spring Grove and St. Mary’s Chiswick made it through to the final four. Belmont, last years winners and undefeated in the group games took on Spring Grove. In an entertaining game the lead changed hands throughout the contest with Spring Grove just edging it 5-4. In the battle of the St. Mary’s, Isleworth ‘A’ beat Chiswick 2-0 in the other semi final. Spring Grove met St. Mary’s Isleworth ‘A’ in the final. St. Mary’s Isleworth ‘A’ took an early lead and remained in control through the match, recording a comfortable 4-0 victory to take the ‘Sport Impact’ trophy. St. Mary’s Isleworth ‘A’ won all six of their games on their way to victory, scoring nineteen goals and only conceding two. Belmont took third place by recording a 1-0 victory over St. Mary’s Chiswick
Congratulations to all Schools involved, the sportsmanship and effort demonstrated by all was excellent. Thank you to Goals, Gillette corner for hosting the event and Sport leaders from Isleworth & Syon for refereeing.
