Athletics in Hounslow Needs YOU!

Ever thought about volunteering in athletics?  NOW is the time to sign up to volunteer in Hounslow.  London 2012 is approaching fast and there are lots of ways you can be involved to ensure there is an Olympic Legacy in Hounslow.

 

What are the benefits of volunteering in athletics?

  • Employability – By volunteering in Athletics, you can set yourself apart from other students and increase your employability. By volunteering within Athletics you can gain key skills which employers look for when recruiting. Whatever career you are looking into, Athletic Club can provide the opportunity for you to gain skills which will help you in the future. Research* shows 81% of employers surveyed view employees who do voluntary work positively and 43% of employers think that employees who undertake voluntary work and learn new skills have a better chance of promotion and earning a higher salary.

 

  • A great time to be involved – With London 2012 less than a year away, now is a great time to be involved in Athletics. By volunteering in Athletics you help ensure that a lasting legacy is felt in Athletics.

 

  • Variety of roles – Athletics Clubs have many different roles that can offer good experience for any student. There are roles available in coaching, officiating, events, admin, finance, communications, journalism and marketing. Working in athletics can help you to gain experience in many different areas. There are also opportunities to work with all age groups. 

 

  • Flexibility – whether you are looking to volunteer at a one off event or for a sustained period there are opportunities within athletics available. Similarly, whether you can offer one hour a week or a couple of nights a week, you can make a real contribution to the running of a club.

 

  • Development Opportunities – there are a number of coaching and leadership courses in Athletics. If you offer your services to an Athletics Club, they along with your University may be able to subsidise the cost of these courses.

 

  • Fun and Rewarding – volunteering in Athletics is a very rewarding and exciting form of volunteering. Being part of a club, you will be able to see athletes develop and progress.
