Hounslow Schools Tennis Festival 2019

Posted on 28/06/2019

On Wednesday 19th June 2019 almost 500 pupils from Hounslow Primary Schools participated in our annual Tennis Festival held at Dukes Meadows Tennis Centre. Delivered by Sport Impact, this event is a firm fixture in the Hounslow Schools competition calendar and is the culmination of free tennis tuition from the Dukes Meadows coaching team throughout the year. For the first time ever, we followed our wet weather plan and it was a great success.

An active day saw hundreds of matches played inside the dome as well as a few sessions of dance/aerobics while pupils waited their turn to get on the court! Each team consisting of 5 boys and 5 girls played mixed doubles throughout.

The Mayor of Hounslow, Tony Louki, visited during the day and was able to see the action in full swing including a lot of the behind the scenes workings. He also presented the winners with their trophy- turned out to be a team very close to home! His words "I feel humbled by the experience."

A huge thanks to Sport Impact's Pete Lammas who organised the day single handedly!!! Another thank you goes to the 45 leaders from Cranford Community College, Heston Community School and Isleworth and Syon for their help on the day- it would not be possible without them and their admirable skills in both officiating and scoring. Last thank you goes to the SI Team for all their help on the day.

The eventual winners were MARLBOROUGH PRIMARY who will progress to the London Youth Games Finals. Congratulations and a huge well done to everyone who participated!
