Hounslow Borough Girls Football 2017

Posted on 21/02/2017

24 Teams from 24 different schools took part in the  Borough Girls Football Competition at Goals Osterley on the 24th January.

It was extremely encouraging to see in excess of 200 girls enthusiastically engaging in what was a record entry for this competition. The levels of skill and sportsmanship were a delight to watch and everybody seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience.

The knockout phases were fiercely competitive with one quarter final and one semi-final being decided on penalties. William Hogarth and St Mary’s isleworth were both cruelly defeated in this fashion.

The final was won by a very strong St Michael and St Martin team who defeated Bedfont in a tough game. St Michael and St Martin won the finals last year and we wish them every success in their venture to defend their title.

Many thanks to all the people and organisations that supported this event and made it the success it was.

They are…

  • Isleworth and Syon referees who did a sterling job
  • The Dragon Foundation (London Welsh) who have been both tireless and fabulous in their support of Sport Impact  this year.
  • We Make Footballers for supporting with pitch management and for offering a pathway for girls to take up the game. Contact SI for more detail.
  • Romeo Kabanda (Motivate Hounslow) and volunteers from Brentford FCCST for additional pitch management and refereeing.
  • Goals for being an extremely  supportive venue
